Grandpa Regie

The last time I saw my Grandpa was when we were sealed in the Sacramento, CA temple. We spent a long weekend down there and had such a wonderful visit. I will never forget leaving after our trip was over. My grandpa had tears in his eyes, I think he knew his remaining time here on earth was short. He grabbed my hand...his hands were so soft and warm. He told me to always remember that my future is as bright as my faith. That is a quote from our prophet today, Thomas S Monson. My grandpa has always been such a spiritual man. He had such a wonderful strong testimony of the gospel, and it showed in everything he did. As time went on grandpa got sicker, and eventually passed away peacefully in their apartment on Oct. 9th 2015.
The day after Raelinn and I ate whip cream out of the can because sweets can heal a broken heart.
Just two days before he passed, he needed to renew his temple recommend. He was so sick he could not leave the bed, and so the stake president came to their home. He couldn't talk because he was so weak, so he just nodded yes or no for the interview questions. That was such a testament of his faith, that in his last days, it still was his top priority to make sure that his temple recommend was renewed. Grandpa set such a wonderful example to all of us. He was always so loving, never afraid to give you a giant bear hug and tell you how much he loved you. He was so patient. After I finished hair school, we took a little vacation down to Sacramento to visit my aunt and uncle and grandma and grandpa. All of us cousins stayed up late to play a board game. Guess who stayed up to play with us? Grandpa :) We were up past midnight. He had us laughing so hard all the other adults sleeping were getting so upset that we were being so loud. He didn't mind though. He just wanted to have a good time with us kids. My heart aches when I think about him, but I know without a doubt he is doing amazing work on the other side of the vail. He had such a beautiful service. I never knew, but he served in the navy! The funeral was so patriotic and my grandma was handed a folded flag in his remembrance. I can't wait to see him again one day.
It was so nice getting the cousins together. We sure missed the Cowley cousins though!
Uncle Steve, aunt Natalie, dad, mom, aunt Holly, grandma, Uncle Daryl and Aunt Nicole
Grandpa loved to get pedicures. He had this one place that grandma would always take him to. They loved seeing him there. So the day after the funeral, grandma, my mom, aunt holly, Jessica and I all went and got our toes done. The lady who always took care of grandpa, asked my grandma "where is Regie today??" It broke my heart having grandma tell her that he passed away. He truly was loved by so many people!! Miss him more than the moon and the stars!!!
